Remembering the World Trade Center and Looking Forward

As we approach tomorrow’s 9th anniversary of the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York, there is much to talk about.  Progress is being made on redevelopment of the area...while debates about the construction of a proposed mosque rage.  In today’s Friday feature, we take a closer look.

And while the controversy over a proposed mosque nearby rages, this article points out the Islamic design influences that architect Yamasaki incorporated into the Twin Towers. One architect has compared the site plan to that of Mecca’s courtyard. Ironic, no?

This article takes a LONG historical look at what it means to be a memorial in New York City.  It seems that there were arguments about such matters all the way back to Thomas Jefferson’s times.
