Preservation Dallas Makes Awards

Wednesday night, we were among the full-capacity crowd at AMCNorthPark as Preservation Dallas presented its 12th annualPreservation Achievement Awards, with Neiman Marcus’ Ken Downing as master ofceremonies.  The evening’s highlightswere wonderfully eloquent speeches by Dallastreasure Ebby Halliday, honored with the Dorothy Savage Award, and Nancy Nasheraccepting the special tribute to NorthPark Center. Nasher recognizedthe team that her parents put together for the original construction in the1960’s and the group that has continued the legacy in the decades to follow, including Omniplan and Mark Dilworth.

At the reception afterwards, several of us noted thetimelessness of NorthPark.  It’scertainly a retail experience that is unique.

It was gratifying to see that Dallas seems to have further embraced theidea of sensitive preservation.  Andwonderfully informative to learn more about these places trhat are such a partof our cultural and historic fabric. Congratulations to Preservation Dallas andall the winners:
