Panel Discussion: Trails in Dallas

Date:September 2, 2015
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Dallas Center for Architecture
1909 Woodall Rodgers Frwy.
Suite 100
Dallas, Texas 75201

Dan Kiley (1912-2004) was one of the most important and influential Modernist landscape architects of the 20th century and worked with equally significant architects, such as Eero Saarinen, Louis Kahn and I.M. Pei, to create internationally acknowledged design icons. In association with our exhibition on Kiley's work, we are pleased to present this special program.

The North Texas area has seen an explosion of trails recently. Join us for a discussion of how those trails are impacting our area economically and in terms of development and design. Are they just amenities for adjacent buildings? Or are they being incorporated into adjoining development designs? Panelists will address these questions and contrast Dallas’ projects with other trail programs across the country.

The discussion will be moderated by Chris Crawford, President, RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture.  Panelists will include:

  • Elissa Hoaglund, HRA Advisors
  • Nicholas Jung, Boka Powell
  • Tony Ruggeri, Co-CEO, Republic Property Group
  • Wayne Smith, President, Friends of Katy Trail
  • Karla Weaver, Program Manager, North Central Texas Council of Governments

We’ll begin the evening with a reception at 6:00 p.m. $10 donation requested at the door. To RSVP, send e-mail to
