Frank Welch trained with O’Neil Ford and has been a prominent architect in Dallas for over 50 years, featuring a regional modernism approach that has influenced many. He continues to be an artist, photographer and mentor. Mark Lam- ster is the architecture critic of the Dallas Morn- ing News and a professor in the School of Archi- tecture at the UT Arlington. He reviewed Welch’s recently published memoir, “On Becoming an Architect” for the DMN in April, commenting that Welch is “now the undisputed eminence grise of Dallas architecture.”
