This program is is presented in collaboration with the Aga Khan Council for the United States.

Farrokh Derakhshani is Director of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and has been associated with the Award since 1982. His main field of specialization is the contemporary architecture of Muslim societies. He lectures widely, and has organized and participated in numerous international seminars, exhibitions, colloquia, workshops, and international competitions. He has served as a a jury member at various international competitions and schools of architecture and collaborated on a large variety of publications on architecture.

Mr. Derakhshani is trained as an architect and planner at National University of Iran and later continued his studies at the School of Architecture in Paris.

He will discuss the jury process, award criteria, and why this cycle’s projects were listed or awarded. He will also examine in depth the details and features that the jury found the most effective and appropriate in fulfilling the Award’s vision.

The lecture will be held at the Dallas Center for Architecture, 1909 Woodall Rogers Freeway. The evening will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by the discussion. $10 donation requested at the door. RSVP to info@DallasCFA.com
