Fair Park Spotlight: Swine Barn
|Date:||May 12, 2016|
|Location:||The tour will begin at the small Statue of Liberty at the northeast end of the Hall of State.|
Texas Centennial Architect George Leighton Dahl designed the Swine Barn (Livestock Building No. 2) for the grand World's Fair honoring the 100th anniversary of Texas' independence from Mexico. Fitting in with the overall Art Deco design of the Exposition, it is designed perfectly for its purpose and is extremely well-crafted. It is one of the most historically intact buildings remaining from the 1936 Fair--right down to its original paint and light fixtures. Join restoration architect Nancy McCoy for an up-close and personal look at this wonderful structure. You'll also learn more about the Woofus, the fantastically creative statue which stands just outside.
Registration is free, but limited. RSVP to info@DallasCFA.com.
