An Appetite for Architecture
| Date: | March 1, 2012 |
|---|---|
| Time: | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM |
| Location: | The Workroom 422 Singleton Blvd. Dallas, TX 75212 |
| Details: | THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. Presented in partnership by the Dallas Center for Architecture and Savor Dallas, An Appetite for Architecture explores the connections between food and design. Our first program of 2012 will be at The Workroom, on Singleton Boulevard, just blocks from the soon-to-open Santiago Calatrava-designed Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and with a stunning view of its 400-gfoot-high white arch. The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge will open with a series of events March 2-4 and we’ll gather on what we’re calling “Bridge Eve” March 1 to learn more about the impact that urban planners and residents anticipate the bridge will have. We’ll hear more about the West Dallas plan developed by the city of Dallas and Dallas CityDesign Studio and about ventures like The Workroom, an old warehouse building that has been transformed into an art gallery, floral studio and gift shop. We will also experience the neighborhood setting that Phil Romano and partners plan to develop into a restaurant incubator location and foodie destination in its “before” (or, “I saw it then”) mode. Larry White from Branding Iron Development Group—a fine wine importer who has brought dozens of premium wines to Savor Dallas over the past several years—will be on hand to lead us through a guided wine tasting of five different wine varietals, including red, white and sparkling (plus a surprise or too). The evening starts with mixing, mingling, and an aperitif provided by Branding Iron before our program begins. Join us for this entertaining and educational night of architecture and design, food and wine. THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. |
