Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is a behemoth architecturefirm that has built some of our most renowned modern skyscrapers, includingBurj Khalifa, the Sears Tower and the World Trade Center. Beyond that, theyhave built countless towers in urban centers across the world.  And that includes Dallas. SOM constructed two of the towers in the Arts District.  TrammellCrow Centerand Chase Tower were both designed by SOM’sRichard Keating.  Here’sa look at “the architecture firm that reached for the sky.”

The Meyerson Symphony Centeris a brilliant tour de force of geometry by Pritzker Prize winner I.M. Pei.  Peiis still going strong at 92 and discusses several of his major projects in thisinterview.

And here’sanother interview—this one with landscape architect Deb Mitchell, part ofthe team that designed the Sammons Park at the new AT&TPerforming Arts Center.  Peter Simek of D’sFrontRow gets some interesting answers on the design process the “scoop” infront of the Wyly Theater.
