NOVA: Secrets of the Parthenon

The Greek Temple of Athena has served as a church, a fortress and a model for countless banks. It’s been looted, rocked by earthquakes and suffered “catastrophic” restorations. Thanks to a major reconstruction program launched by the Greek government, architects and scientists are finally able to probe the architectural mysteries of the Parthenon, the planning and construction, and how the temple was raised in just eight years, without the aid of a blueprint.


Painted Churches of Texas

Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.

From Austin PBS affiliate KLRU, a look at the 19th century immigrant churches of South Texas. From the outside, they look like country churches, but inside the walls and ceiling are ornately painted to resemble the Czech and German churches of their native countries.
